Hi, I’m Miriam Joseph

I am an artist, designer, and lifelong gardener. My work is rooted in living closely with nature. I focus on flowers, their fleeting presence, their extraordinary range of color, and their inherent uniqueness.

As a longtime watercolor plein air painter, I developed a deep love for hiking into remote landscapes to paint directly from life. In recent years, oil has captured my imagination, allowing me to work with thick, luminous color and build surfaces that feel as rich and physical as the blooms themselves.

I am drawn to painting flowers in drifts, just as they appear in nature. And the Rio Grande River just happens to be in my back yard – I see beauty in every season and paint the river often. My process is intuitive and responsive, capturing them through every stage—from first delicate bloom to the final, wispy fall of petals.

Through my work, I seek to create a sense of calm and presence, inviting the viewer to slow down and experience the quiet beauty of something both real and fleeting.
